Ballan Wrasse - Wrasse are a good fish to eat and you should not be put of by their bright colours. Tossed in flour, and fried in oil or butter, they are good served with mushrooms, new potatoes, mint and a dry white wine such as Chardonnay |

Wrasse live amoung rocks, so fish where ever there are a lots of rocks i.e. Baggy Point, Combe Martin & exposed side of Watermouth |

Crab is the best bait. Either a small hardback or peeler. You can also try using limpets |
Best Time to catch: |
Wrasse feed in bright sunlight, so don't bother fishing for them at night as they sleep on the rock ledges. |
Top tip: |
Best results are to ledger in rocky areas with good kelp beds using 10 - 15lb line. However be prepared for tackle losses! Float fishing just of the bottom also produces good results. |
